Waterdos FKN 28 has a proven protection formula against freezing and corrosion for closed loop water central heating systems and meets the VDI 2035 requirements. It is also ideally suited for cooling circuits, solar collectors, and heat pumps. Waterdos FKN 28 contains components which stabilize the hardness and cleans (dispersants) the liquid.
Waterdos FKN-28 is a yellow color liquid with density of 1.12 ± 0.03 g/cm3 (at temp. 20 °C) and a pH (1%) 8.6 ± 0.2 and a temperature freezing point of -150 °C
The dosage of Waterdos FKN 28 depends on the quality of the water inlet and the required frost protection. Generally, the dosage is between 20-50% the capacity of the unit (see table). Dosing occurs manually by means of the inlet gate, a hand pump or electric pump (if possible before the system circulation pump).
Liquid mixing depends on the system used hydraulic equipment and can take up to 14 days. For effective and hassle-free use, at least once a year, checking the content of the mixed liquid for pH levels, density and the inhibitor content is prior to maintaining the antifreeze and anti-corrosion capabilities. In the case of deviation from the required value, the need to fill the gaps of the fluid in the system is obligatory. If a larger closed loop system or industrial systems are in use it is advisable to consult the engineers.

Conditioning design, crevice corrosion, and erosion can not always be avoided. For reasons of chemical corrosion the maximum concentration of the liquid concentrate can not exceed more than 20%.
Direct contact of copper with aluminum is not allowed.
When changing the installation medium from water and anti-freeze agent to water, attention must be drawn to the total removal of the antifreeze liquid (rinsed out). Otherwise, there the risk occurs that residues of organic acids will decompose and act corrosively. Waterdos inhibitor should also be applied and at least for one year a water content measurement for pH and inhibitor presence should be carried out.
When pH drops below 7, flushing the system with a Passivator NEU 04 inhibitor is a common practice with refilling afterward.
The limit of WATERDOS FKN-28 is approx. 68% concentration of the mixture of water, which corresponds to the freezing temperature setpoint of approx. -68 °C.
