Fireplace and stove can be equipped with a flue damper. Flue damper has a feature through which it is possible to adjust the strength of the chimney draft, which alters the efficiency of the fireplace or furnace (combustion control).
Opening a fireplace damper (maximum pipe flow) makes the chimney draft close to its strongest point, affecting how fast the wood or coal will burn, and thereby increasing the nominal power of the heating device. The need to reduce the violence of the combustion process is achieved through setting a chimney damper close to the trailing position (minimum pipe flow).
Chimney damper can be installed as an extension of the flue pipe (exhaust pipe), but it is not always necessary. If the surrounding area in which you live does not have very strong winds, power control over the chimney, affecting the combustion efficiency of the fireplace can be done only by adjusting the amount of fresh air supplied to the furnace of the heating device.
