DROPS M 4.2 – 4.1 kW Domestic Hot Water Heat Pump
Main Features
- Energy efficiency class A.
- COP 4.2 (according to detailed data in the technical table below).
- Manufactured in Poland.
- Full manufacturer warranty and post-warranty service.
- Low operating costs and long service life thanks to high-quality components.
- No hidden extra costs – all components needed for the heat pump operation are built into the unit.
- Can be connected to any DHW tank – directly to the water circuit or via a water jacket or tank coil.
- Replacing the heat pump does not require dismantling the tank, unlike permanently integrated systems.
- Suitable for rooms with low ceilings where pumps with built-in tanks cannot be used.
- Easy and quick installation thanks to compact design and built-in circulation pump.
- Easy transport, high thermal insulation, and modern appearance thanks to lightweight and durable plastic casing.
- High safety level thanks to pressure and temperature protection in the refrigeration circuit.
- Automatic evaporator defrost function as standard.
- Ability to set four time intervals (two night and two day) with different water temperatures for each day of the week.
- Compatible with photovoltaic installation or day/night tariff power supply via an additional potential-free contact to start the pump.
- Ability to control an electric heater.
- Ability to control a DHW circulation pump.
- Installation on the floor (mounting feet included) or on the wall with an additional bracket (bracket not included).
- Can be installed and maintain warranty without special installer qualifications.
- Can cool rooms with exhaust air from the pump.

Main Components
- High-efficiency rotary compressor with long service life.
- Energy-saving EBM PAPST radial fan.
- Evaporator with hydrophilic coating improving defrosting and reducing fin contamination.
- WILO circulation pump for domestic or heating water.
- Intuitive controller.
- SWEP plate heat exchanger (condenser).
- Plastic casing in grey color.
- Mounting feet for floor installation.
The heat pump and the heat recovery unit operate independently, therefore the ventilation ducts should also be separated. This ensures that when the heat recovery system is running but the heat pump is not, the air flows freely to the ventilation outlet instead of the heat pump, which would otherwise reduce the efficiency of the heat recovery unit fan.
Basic Technical Data
| Installation | Indoor |
| Dimensions (diameter x height) | 661 x 563 mm |
| Air duct diameter | 250 mm |
| Heating circuit connections | GW ¾” |
| Weight | 55 kg |
| Refrigerant | R134a / 1.0 kg |
| Heating medium | Water or glycol solution up to 50/50 |
| Recommended flow rate | 0.4 m³/h |
| Operating range (ambient temperature) | +5 to +43 °C |
| Maximum DHW temperature | +60 °C |
| Power supply | 1/N/PE 220–240 V 50 Hz |
Parameters at 20 °C air temperature
| Power consumption (inlet air 20 °C) | min. 0.72 kW, max. 1.32 kW |
| Max. heating capacity | 4.1 kW |
| Average heating capacity (heating water 10–55 °C) | 3.24 kW |
| COP, heating water 10–40 °C | 4.2 |
| COP, 10–45 °C | 3.9 |
| COP, 10–50 °C | 3.5 |
| COP, 10–55 °C | 3.3 |
| Heating time for 100 l (10–40 °C) | 0.9 h |
| Heating time for 100 l (10–45 °C) | 1.1 h |
| Heating time for 100 l (10–50 °C) | 1.4 h |
| Heating time for 100 l (10–55 °C) | 1.6 h |
The above parameters are based on tests with the unit connected to the tank according to diagram No. 2, with inlet air temperature of 20 °C and without additional ducts connected to the pump.
Important Notes
- During water heating, the temperature difference between the supply and return of the heat pump is only a few °C – this is normal and results from the operating characteristics of such devices.
- Connection via a coil reduces efficiency due to heat losses. The required coil surface area is min. 0.9 m² for proper operation.
- When using a coil or water jacket, the maximum water temperature may be slightly lower than the value given in the technical data (+60 °C).
- When connecting directly to the tank (diagram 2), the supply pipe should be placed as low as possible in the tank to shorten reheating time after a small hot water draw.
- When selecting tank capacity, take into account heating times for the given inlet air temperatures to avoid user discomfort or the need for an additional heat source.
The built-in WILO pump allows the DROPS heat pump to be connected directly to the domestic hot water installation.
