Central heating boiler controller ST-480 supports several working modes, such as manual operation, which enables to control each connected device manually. Weekly programmable schedule mode throughout the week in a range from Monday to Friday and Saturday to Sunday, creating boiler working temperature schedule, which will handle the use of heat in a central heating installation in a cost-effective manner.

Operating modes pump Central heating pump operating modes

Four main central heating pump operating mode modes are available depending on the current heat demand.

Central heating mode controls the central heating pump switching on or off depending on the current boiler temperature. Which is not only comfortable but also significantly affects pump lifetime.

Domestic hot water priority mode will run the domestic hot water pump until the set point temperature value of domestic hot water in the hot water storage tank is reached. After reaching it the domestic hot water pump will be switched off and the central heating pump starts working. In case of domestic hot water temperature drop down (below a given setpoint), the domestic hot water pump resumes its working and the central heating pump stops.

Parallel pump mode operation will activate both pumps above the threshold switching temperature level. In case of reaching the temperature set point in the hot water storage tank, the pump stops but the central heating pump works all the time.

Summer mode is a total lack of central heating pump work. Only the domestic hot water pump is working, except emergency situations (like overheating).

Additional central heating boiler controller features

The controller has additional functions such as. mixing valve control (possible extension for an additional valve through a module), weather control with included outside weather temperature sensor which will allow determine the heating curve in a dynamic way. Floor heating pump control will allow to manage pump work and set the required parameters suitable for owned floor heating. The circulation pump control function allows to control and select working parameters required for domestic hot water temperature short access time. The controller also has the ability to calibrate the solid fuel boiler storage container (which learns the storage container level after being fully loaded and empty). The ST-480 controller allows you to adjust many aspects of the operation of the central heating boiler equipment (eg. blower fan, feeder unit) and calibrate date function, clock settings, contrast and the encoder sensitivity.

Protect a central heating system

Temperature alarm in case of overheating is not only sound and text message. Comprehensive protective measures for the installation are taken in the form of stopping blower fan, solid fuel feeder work and a parallel start of connected pumps to dissipate the heat and cool down the central heating boiler.

Return water protection is another useful feature that allows you to set the optimum return water temperature (suggested by the boiler manufacturer) in order to avoid too cool return water, which is causing low-temperature corrosion of a central heating boiler. When the return water temperature is too low, the control function of the boiler closes the mixing valve on the short circuit of the boiler until the return reaches the appropriate temperature. The function also protects the boiler from overheating by controlling the mixing valve to not allow water boiling.
